Center ice, in the garage
- What
- A garage floor made to look like the center of a hockey rink
- Status
- Floor finished, boards next

We are a St. Louis Blues family, so I gave our garage floor a center-ice logo. It is modeled on center ice at Enterprise Center, where the Blues play, with one change: the arena’s name around the circle is swapped for ours.
The decal is about 94 inches across and sits in the middle of the garage, with the red center line running through it. Farther back, a blue line and a second red line cross the floor, the way they would on a rink.
How it was made
- The decalAbout 94 inches across, cut from permanent vinyl in the team’s colors and applied straight to the floor.
- The cuttingAll of it was cut on a Cricut Maker 3, a home craft cutter, including pieces far longer than the machine is meant to handle.
- The floorAn epoxy floor in light gray with only white flakes, chosen to look as close to ice as a garage floor can.
- The linesA red line through the logo, then a blue line and a second red line farther back, as on a real rink.
Cutting past the machine’s limit

A Cricut cutter tops out at a length of 24 inches for typical cutting, and a 94-inch logo needs pieces far longer than that.
So I devised a way to trick the Maker 3 into cutting much longer lengths, long enough for the pieces this logo required.
Next: the boards
The walls come next. They will be painted white up to 34 inches, with a yellow stripe along the bottom and a blue stripe along the top, and local business logos placed around them the way sponsors line the boards at a rink.
Above that, the walls will be a gray-blue, so the boards stand out.
