I’m Brian Lewis.
I’m a creative director in the St. Louis area with over 20 years of experience in design, development, and creative leadership, most recently running the in-house creative team at Potter, a fire and life safety manufacturer. I have spent my working life on technical products that protect people and property, and I like marketing things that matter.
Outside work I serve on the board of Dueling for Lincoln, a St. Louis nonprofit supporting families through pediatric medical crises, I coach youth baseball, and I build things: software, video projects, and whatever my three kids dream up next. Some of those projects are on the Fun page.
How I lead
- Player-coach, by convictionI started as a designer and developer and never stopped practicing. I can speak each discipline’s language, translate company strategy so it clicks with every role, and still open the file myself when that is what the work needs.
- People become ownersI develop senior team members into owners of their disciplines. The goal is a team that runs the work, with me providing direction, priority, and the standard.
- Visibility over heroicsHidden work sets a team up for failure. Intake, calendars, and tracking everyone can see are how a lean team serves a whole company without burning out or letting the brand drift.
- Bullish on AI, with guardrailsI use AI heavily and build with it, from workflow automation to production tooling. I also wrote the guardrails, because AI is a collaborator, never the final source for anything that carries the brand.
